We are not connected to AICTE, the National Internship Portal or the Ministry of Education.
AICTE Internship Portal 2026 is run by AICTE under the Ministry of Education. Students can create a free profile to apply for weekly, monthly and semester internships. Registration may take around 4 minutes if your documents are ready, but preparation and college verification can take longer. Before registering, ensure the website address is internship.aicte-india.org.
Portal status
Student registration was open as of 12 October 2026. We opened the portal’s student registration form and its About page on that date. Each internship posting has its own deadline, shown on the posting. The portal lists a “Closing this week” filter, so deadlines move constantly.

| Registration link | https://internship.aicte-india.org/auth/register |
Most of these figures are the portal’s own statements about itself. The portal does not publish an application count or a placement rate on the pages we read, so we have none to give you.
Is “4 minutes” realistic?
The portal does not publish a registration time, and we did not time ourselves. The form has about 17 fields, including an ID card upload and an Aadhaar number. Here is our estimate, not the portal’s:
| Stage | What it involves | Realistic time |
|---|---|---|
| Prepare | Find your enrolment number, scan or photograph your ID card, check the file size | 10 to 20 minutes the first time |
| Fill the form | Type details, choose your college, set a password | About 5 to 10 minutes |
| After you submit | Follow any prompts the portal shows; your college later validates your profile | Not timed, and not under your control |
If you collect everything first, the typing part can get close to the title’s number. Preparation is where people lose time.
Who should register, and who should wait
Register if you are currently enrolled at a college or university and want one profile that works for many internship openings, including industry, government and state-run ones. The portal’s student category covers AICTE-affiliated institutions (diploma, engineering, MBA) and non-AICTE ones (UGC, IGNOU or other).
Wait or ask first if you are not currently enrolled, because the form asks for a student ID (enrolment number) and an ID card image. The portal also lists other login types, so write to the helpline before assuming student registration is wrong for you. Also hold off if you do not know whether your college is AICTE-affiliated. The form links to AICTE’s own approved-institute check, which you should use first.
What to keep ready before you open the form
These come from the form fields we saw on 12 October 2026:
- Your institute’s name, as it appears in AICTE’s master list. The form fills in the institute ID, type, head of institute and region once you pick it.
- Student ID (enrolment number).
- ID card image, a JPG, JPEG or PNG under 3 MB.
- Aadhaar number, 12 digits in the pattern xxxx xxxx xxxx.
- A personal email address and mobile number you will keep after you graduate.
- State and city or district.
- Your last passed course (10, 12, Diploma, Graduation, Post Graduation or Others) and your percentage or grade, typed without a % sign.
- Gender and category (General, OBC, SC, ST or EWS).
- A security question and answer you will remember.
- A password with at least 8 characters, including an upper-case letter, a lower-case letter and a number.
Note that the form does not ask for a resume. Some guides say it does, which suggests they describe an older version of the portal.
How to register, step by step
- Type the address yourself. Enter internship.aicte-india.org in your browser instead of following a link from a message or an advert.
- Choose Register Free.
- Select “Student Candidate” as your account category. The other categories are for employers, universities, local bodies and similar organisations.
- Pick AICTE affiliated or Non-AICTE. If you are unsure, use the check link on the form.
- Search for your institute and select it, then tick the box confirming the details are correct.
- Fill in your name, mobile number and student ID, then upload your ID card image.
- Enter your email and Aadhaar number, then choose your state and city.
- Set your security question and answer, then fill in gender, category, last passed course and percentage.
- Create your password, accept the Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy, and select Register Account.
We did not submit a registration, so we cannot confirm what appears after step 9. Older guides describe an email verification link and a profile-completion step, which is plausible, but follow the on-screen prompts and treat those descriptions as unverified.
Problems you may hit, and fixes
- Your college does not appear. Search the full AICTE master list the form provides. If it is still missing, your institute may not be listed as AICTE-affiliated, so try the Non-AICTE route or ask your training and placement cell.
- The ID image is rejected. Keep it under 3 MB and in JPG, JPEG or PNG format. A phone photo often exceeds the size limit, so compress it first.
- The password is refused. The form accepts these symbols: @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) _ + = . ? !. Other symbols may fail.
- The percentage field errors out. Type only the number, with no % sign.
- You picked the wrong category. Employer, university and local-body categories appear on the same screen as the student one. Check the heading before you fill anything in.
- You cannot reach your email later. Use a personal address, not a temporary or college one that may expire, since the portal uses it for your account.
Why guides disagree about the steps
Many blogs describe a short form with a name, email, phone number and password. The current form is longer and includes institute selection, an ID upload and an Aadhaar number. Numbers such as “1 lakh openings” also appear in guides without a source. Trust the form on the official domain and the figures on the official pages, and treat anything else as a lead to check.
After you register
The portal says your institute or training and placement officer validates your profile and availability before you join or accept an offer. That makes the internship record trustworthy, and it also means you should tell your college that you have registered. Some points to know:
- Pick the format that fits your timetable. Weekly internships suit a semester break, monthly ones are the standard format, and semester internships count toward your degree.
- Use the filters. The portal lets you filter by remote or hybrid mode, state, stipend and “closing this week.”
- Read the stipend on each posting. The registration page uses the phrase “Verified Monthly Stipend Guarantee,” but the About page says stipends apply across most partners, not all. The posting itself is the only reliable source.
- Credits depend on your college. The portal says completed internships are approved for the Academic Bank of Credits, but whether your college counts them toward your degree is its decision. Ask before you plan around it.
Staying safe on the portal
You are handing over an ID card image and an Aadhaar number, so treat the domain as the first check. Use only internship.aicte-india.org. The portal states that it charges students nothing and that anyone asking for a fee for mentorship, training or placement should be reported to the helpline.
Private websites sometimes use AICTE’s name in their titles or descriptions. That does not make them part of this portal. If a provider says its internship is AICTE approved, ask for the approval reference in writing and look for the posting on the portal itself. After you complete any internship that the portal certifies, use its certificate verification page to confirm the certificate.
Is it worth it?
Registering is worth it if you are a current student, because it costs nothing and gives you one profile across many postings, with your college validating the record. It helps most for students who want a certificate that employers or colleges can verify and credit-linked internships.
The limits are real. Registration does not guarantee a selection, a stipend or a pre-placement offer, and the portal does not publish selection rates on the pages we read. Postings vary in quality and competition. Treat the portal as a place to apply from, not as a promise of placement.
How to succeed after registering
- Match your details to your college records. Name, enrolment number and course should be identical, since your college validates them.
- Apply to several postings, not one. Competition is unknown, so spread your applications.
- Read each posting fully. Duration, mode, stipend and deadline all differ between postings.
- Prepare a one-page resume before you need it, because postings may ask for one even though registration does not.
- Ask your training and placement officer to validate quickly, so that an offer does not wait on a pending approval.
FAQs
Is registration really free? The portal says it is free for students and organisations. If anyone asks for a fee in its name, write to internship@aicte-india.org.
Do I need an Aadhaar number? The student form marks it as required. If you have a concern, call the helpline before you submit.
Can I register from a non-AICTE college? Yes, through the Non-AICTE option, which covers UGC, IGNOU and other institutions.
What if the ID upload keeps failing? Check the format and size first. If both are right, call 011-29581423 on a weekday between 9 am and 6 pm.
Does registering give me an internship? No. It creates your profile, and you must apply to individual postings and be selected.
How do I check a certificate? Use the portal’s certificate verification page, listed in its footer.
Who do I contact if something breaks? The helpline, the IVR line or internship@aicte-india.org, as listed in the overview table.
